A frequency control method based on coordinated control of flexible loads (FL) and energy storage systems (ESS) is proposed in this paper. The ESS adopts the droop control considering the state of charge (SOC) to quickly respond to the system frequency deviation and provide fast frequency support.
Conventional frequency regulation strategies for isolated power systems include primary frequency regulation by synchronous units or cutting machines or load shedding based on stabilization devices .
Therefore, a coordinated control method, which takes full advantage of EVs and BESSs in coordination with the traditional AGC units for frequency regulation is proposed in this paper. There are two main ways for EVs to participate in system FR: centralized control and decentralized control.
Through extra equipments such as meter devices, power electronics interface, energy converter, and bi-directional communication interface to communicate with the aggregator entity, a large number of EVs (charging/discharging) can be controlled effectively .
