Lithium is now a viable and rational choice for most RV builds. Years ago, lithium cell batteries were outside of the budget of most RV owners, including us. However, with prices dropping and advances in lithium battery chemistry, lithium batteries are now safer and more stable options.

Lithium-Ion Cells: Commonly used cells include 18650 or LiFePO4 cells. Battery Management System (BMS): This device monitors and manages the charging and discharging of the battery.
Assembling your battery pack involves several steps: Determine Configuration: For a 12V pack, connect cells in series. Typically, you will need four cells in series if using LiFePO4 (3.2V per cell) or three cells if using standard lithium-ion cells (3.7V per cell).
When we first stripped the electrical system out of our 1970 Avion C11 truck camper, acid cell batteries were the obvious choice for RV power systems. Lithium cell batteries were on the market but outside of the budget of most any RV owners, including us.
Not only the LiFePO4 battery can power your daily use during your traveling, but also can power the travel trailer RV. More and more RVers are replacing their lead-acid house batteries with lithium-ion options. They are lightweight, but they have a higher energy density. Without toxicity, they are also friendly to our environment.
